A D&D Traffic Management’s Traffic Controller experienced a near hit on a
Sydney Motorway while conducting access control. This was the catalyst of change. Our
mission of removing traffic controllers from the road and improving work site safety begun.
Sep 2012
The first design of a portable Boom Gate was implemented successfully on M5
East. It was used for motorway closures and access control. This solution still used on that
job today.
Sep 2013
The final product known as PB2000 was developed for live traffic control use
June 2014
NSW RMS granted interim approval of PORTABOOM for use on roads to conduct
Stop/Slow traffic control
Australian Roads & Research Board (ARRB) approve PORTABOOM under the
Transport Infrastructure Product Evaluation Scheme (TIPES)
